Coming soon…

A quick visit to the Terra Blanca and Fidelitas wineries of Red Mountain is ALWAYS worth it 🙂 What amazing views!

On the way home from the Oregon Brew Festival this year, we stopped in at the Maryhill and Columbia Crest Wineries. It was the first I had seen the new (to me) amphitheater at Maryhill, and I hadn’t been to Columbia Crest in, well, way too long. Both places are absolutely beautiful.

As much as I love wine, my guy friends LOVE beer. A group of us went to Portland this year for the Oregon Brew Festival and had a fantastic time!

I passed the town of Lind, WA each time I made the trip from WSU (in Pullman) to my hometown of Kennewick. One of the landmarks on the trip was a sign outside of Lind that said “Lind, WA: Home of the Combine Derby!”. I always wanted to go and check it out.

Fast forward to May 2009: I was sitting with a group of new friends in a Seattle restaurant sipping margaritas and chatting about the crazy things that happen in college. For some reason, that Combine Derby sign came up in conversation. My friend Suz looked at me and said, “I grew up in Lind. My parents have a farm there. Let’s do a girls trip to the Combine Derby this year!” Oh, I was in.

wpid56-IMG_2493-1.jpgMy parents travel to Scottsdale, AZ every winter after the Christmas Holiday, and I usually make a trip down to see them at least once.  Always looking for new things to do, my parents suggested visiting the Phoenix Botanical Gardens, and it turns out that there was a Dale Chihuly installation there at the time.  I love glass artwork, and the different forms in this installation were a fantastic contrast to the natural beauty of the desert.
